Statement of Work (SOW)

Background: The Physician will be the Contract medical director and shall oversee the proper application of medical standards and assist with complex cases. Receive patient information from Guard Medical Units or Air Force recruiters and make decisions or recommendations to close the case using applicable Air Force policy and guidance. Case types include but are not limited to: line of duty determinations, military retention or accession, commissioning, fly cases, incapacitation pay, convalescent leave, Congressional inquiries, and Board for Correction of Military Records.

Period of Performance: One-year base period, 4 August 2025 to 3 August 2026

Schedule: M-F 0730 – 1630

Requirements:

  • Degree: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).
  • Education: Graduation from a medical school in the United States, Canada, or approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (AMA), graduation from a college of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or graduation from a medical school with evidence of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification.
  • Certification: The DoD only recognizes certifications issued by boards that are members of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the AOA Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists
  • Internship/Residency/Fellowship: Completion of an accredited residency approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF.
  • Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities.
  • Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges.
  • Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
  • Order diagnostic tests as applicable as well as request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.
  • Technically proficient in directing and teaching other medical staff, providing educational lectures, and participating in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members. Such direction and interaction will adhere to Government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocols.
