| Job Description | Position Title: Research & Development Chemist Position Location: Massachusetts Position ID: 5774 Position Summary: We are working an opportunity for a client that we have worked with for many years, and this company is growing quickly in their specialty Coatings, PVC plastisols and urethane markets, to name a few. Our client is a fully integrated coating and converting manufacturing company producing top quality polymer coated fabrics, textiles, tape, and film products. They offer the most advanced formulations using Polyurethane, Silicone, PVC chemistries along with PSA Adhesives. This Company seeks a bright, creative, professional R&D Chemist to join their team in Massachusetts. The R&D Coatings Chemist will develop lab prototypes of new products and be instrumental in scaling them up to production. This position reports to the VP of Technology. Key Responsibilities: •Communicate with customer regarding assigned projects •Maintain data/information including charts and tables for communication of project results/details •Provide technical input to develop new coating formulations, products, and associated work instructions •Set-up and supervision of plant trials •Develop new products under specified cost constraints and efficiently communicate costing information to the finance department •Source and qualify new raw materials used in both current production and new products •Provide cross-functional support to meet organizational goals and objectives Requirements: •Bachelors in Organic/Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science, or equivalent required •5 to 15 years of related experience preferred •Comfortable and able to work safely in a laboratory environment, able to safety handle hazardous chemicals •Proficiency in Microsoft Office •Strong interpersonal and communication skills •Willingness to work flexible hours on occasion Preferred Skills: •Knowledge of vinyl plastisol, urethane, and silicone chemistry and formulation •Familiarity with the coating, casting, and converting processes •Analytical testing experience or understanding •Microsoft Access proficiency Compensation/Benefits: Compensation commensurate with experience.
