Job Description | POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Title: Purchasing Specialist Location: GA Reporting Dept: Purchasing/Operations Position Description Responsible for the daily planning, procurement and tracking of warehouse & production materials. Utilizes a combination of demand history & forecasting techniques to aid in optimal product availability to support shipping customers complete and on time. Coordinates logistics of assigned commodities/parts for all North American and Global distribution centers to ensure appropriate inventory levels are being met to service our customers. This position will work closely with quality to drive improvement, develop supplier performance metrics, as well as working with key areas such as product development, design and Operations to simplify/standardize parts and processes to achieve overall cost savings and efficiency gains in the department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Daily planning and procurement. Issue accurate and timely purchase orders. Provide timely and accurate quotations to support projects and customer needs. • Maintain complete and accurate part/supplier data within the Epicor ERP system, Country of Origin documents and HTS codes • Conducts periodic reviews with key suppliers as necessary to ensure quality and delivery expectations are being met. • Must have an understanding and capability to manually calculate of stock levels when needed: suggested min, max and safety stock for warehouse locations. • Collaborate, along with Quality, on improvement plans for low performing suppliers. • Work with Logistics providers to schedule deliveries and receipts utilizing LTL, FTL, FCL, and small package delivery methods with an understanding of Incoterms for international shipments via air and ocean. • Work with key areas to simplify/standardize processes, data and commodity purchases to achieve overall cost savings, optimize inventory levels, and gain efficiencies. • Provide excellent Customer Service: Work closely with all shareholders to ensure all needs are met to serve internal and external customers. Communicates issues/constraints proactively and effectively, leading issue resolution with a sense of urgency. • Serves as an agent regarding change management and process improvement. • Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor of Business, Supply Chain • 3-5 years of work experience in Domestic and International Material Planning, Procurement, Supply Chain, Logistics • Systems experience ERP, MRP, Microsoft Office, master expertise in Excel required. • Experience purchasing across multiple warehouses • CPM or APICS certification are highly desirable. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required • Ability to lead projects as well as balance multiple assignments while meeting deadlines to support the business. • Ability to work independently and as a team player. • Outstanding communication • Demonstrated ability to work with suppliers and lead negotiations for information and improvements related to delivery dates, cost reductions, and other key deliverables as necessary. • Ability to act rapidly & effectively in team environment when appropriate. • Strategic & creative thinking: able to see the big picture & can help to generate innovative out of the box approaches & improved processes to drive business results with minor supervision. • Must be capable of maintaining composure & achieving results in an often fast-paced/multi-tasking environment. • Tactfulness and assertiveness; must be effective & clear decision-maker under pressure situations; able to deal effectively with internal & external personnel. • Experience with interacting in cross functional environments. • Provide leadership expertise & conduct oneself in a professional, businesslike manner in conjunction with company values. • Ability to comprehend operation goals & strategic imperatives as related to assignments. | ||
