Job Description | The candidate will provide legal counsel with respect to IP matters in general and, in particular, advises businesses on the procurement of IP rights, protecting their IP from misappropriation by others, their freedom-to-operate in view of the IP rights of other parties, and the use and exploitation of their IP, and work with businesses to harvest invention disclosures from their technology teams and ensure that those invention disclosures are submitted for review and acted upon by the business IP committee. Conduct IP searches and legal reviews. Prepare and prosecute applications for patents and trademarks. Oversee and coordinate with company's outside IP counsel to provide practical, high-quality IP counsel and services at a reasonable cost. Prepare and review IP-related agreements, such as non-disclosure agreements, IP license agreements, consulting agreements and technology development agreements. Provide IP training and information updates to business management and technical personnel to make them aware of and enable them to anticipate IP issues that are relevant to their work. Support company's IP due diligence for proposed acquisitions and mergers, and the post-acquisition integration of the acquired business' IP. Develop policies, procedures, and best practices for identifying and protecting IP, including, without limitation, through the acquisition and maintenance of patents, trademark registrations, copyright registrations, trade secrets and other types of IP rights. The candidate should have a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or the Physical Sciences and a Law degree from accredited school. Advanced degrees are desirable. Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a patent attorney. Should be admitted to practice before the USPTO. | ||
