Case Manager
Our client is a globally renowned, highly regarded progressive commercial litigation law firm. Currently, it is accepting applications for a Litigation Case Manager (Paralegal / Legal Assistant).
Responsibilities:
- Support case teams of various sizes during all stages of litigation, from inception through trial and appeal
- Actively manage the production of hard copy and electronic documents, including collecting documents and data from clients, processing documents from opposing and third parties, handling logistics of document productions, and printing
- Prepare for depositions, conferences, and hearings, including by compiling documents, assisting in preparing witness outlines, and managing logistical and technical details
- Attend and prepare for trials, including by compiling and tracking trial exhibits, preparing documents and evidence for courtroom use, setting up remote trial offices, coordinating with vendors, and interacting with courtroom staff and other trial participants
- Conduct factual research, including through document analysis and interviews, and summarize information and prepare chronologies
- Organize and maintain hard copy and electronic case files
- Collaborate with the eDiscovery and Litigation Support Department and use databases and eDiscovery tools
- Assist in drafting motion papers, correspondence, and other documents by participating in fact checking, compiling exhibits and appendices, formatting documents according to local rules, and coordinating service of legal documents
- Collaborate with the Managing Attorney’s Office to prepare and file court documents
- Maintain court calendars and track deadlines
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with high academic standing
- Enthusiastic and passionate about our commitment to civil rights and public interest law, and joining a collaborative environment in a new and growing law firm
- Excellent communication skills, writing and editing skills, research ability, attention to detail, and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- The initiative to problem-solve
- The ability to multitask and work well under pressure with unexpected and strict deadlines
- The flexibility to work overtime and travel as needed
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft applications, and the ability to learn new and innovative tools and solutions
- Prior law firm litigation paralegal experience preferred but not required
- Based in the Washington, DC area or willing to relocate
Education and Experience: You have at least 2 years of related experience, e.g., in a litigation-specific role at a law firm. eDiscovery certification—e.g., Certified E- Discovery Specialist (CEDS) or Certified Information Privacy Professional for the United States (CIPP/U)—preferred but not required.
Knowledge: You have a strong working knowledge of eDiscovery and litigation case-management principles, extensive familiarity with ESI Protocols and other data delivery or discovery exchange guidelines (SEC, DOJ, CFTC, FINRA, etc.), fluency with structured load files and the technical specifications for processing and producing documents in legal matters and are tech-savvy.
Additional Information: You must be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 by your hire date to be eligible to start in this role. Proof of vaccination will be required.
