The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) oversees the financial activities and operations of the financial institution and its affiliated companies. The CFO plays a key role in the success of the credit union and is involved in preparing analyses for a variety of purposes, asset liability management, merger analysis and product, delivery channel, member and organizational cost and profitability analysis.

Main responsibilities of the CFO are:

  • directing of financial reporting structures
  • establishment of various accounting policies and procedures
  • maximization of profitability
  • maintaining adequate capital levels
  • perform analyses of long-range economic and growth trends and potential impacts on the organization and its affiliates and reporting these trends to the Board of Directors
  • balance sheet management
  • implement strategic activities
  • perform in-depth asset/liability and interest rate risk management
  • make recommendations on the long-range impact on the organization and its affiliates
  • manage the investment portfolio and liquidity of the organization and it's affiliate companies to maximize profitability while maintaining acceptable levels of risk

Qualified candidates must have:

  • a four-year degree in finance or accounting, an MBA and/or CPA/CMA is preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive responsibility within the financial services industry
  • 5 years experience as a significant member of a financial team, such as a controller or CFO of a progressive financial institution
  • the demonstrated ability to motivate, coach, counsel and train subordinates
  • extensive understanding and skill in technical areas such as GAAP and credit union regulatory accounting principles
  • extensive technology skills
  • expert level use of management reporting systems and report writing capabilities such as Crystal Reports are required
