We have partnered with a large United Methodist Church in Virginia (Washington DC Metro) in order to conduct a national search for a Student Ministries Director

Floris United Methodist Church has a heart for children in poverty and actively engages in opportunities that focus on children including a local school partnership and a child rescue center and hospital in Bo, Sierra Leone, Africa. Floris is also committed to addressing basic needs like food and shelter.


In response to projected population growth in Reston, Virginia, Floris UMC opened a new campus, Restoration Church in January 2015. Through the opening of this campus Floris UMC envisions reaching existing and new residents of Reston who are not connected to a church.


Floris United Methodist Church has a history of more than 120 years in the Herndon area and imagines an exciting future.

Summary Description

The primary purpose of the position is to serve as the Student Ministries Director providing ministry to middle school and high school students. The student ministry is a vital part of the DNA of the church. It serves to bring students into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ and the Senior Pastor’s strategic vision of the church by coordinating activities that deliver a consistent, spiritual learning experience for students to stay connected to Floris UMC and to grow in their relationship with God. The Director ensures that Student Ministries is fully integrated across all ministries, and that the program supports the focus areas of the church (Worship, Faith, Growth and Service).


Candidate requirements include:

A college degree / advanced degree in Theology (or equivalent) and 3-5 years experience working in a student ministry of 50 or more students. You need to have good experience recruiting and leading volunteers. You must be an excellent and engaging communicator. Your track record needs to include references to your professionalism and constant good judgment.
