Job Description
Professional Land Surveyor - Survey Manager

Sequence, the nation's leading executive search firm for niche engineering and survey professionals, has been exclusively retained and is currently seeking an industrious and dedicated Professional Land Surveyor for one of Oklahoma's most respected survey organizations.

Our client, a thriving firm with both survey and engineering divisions and significant backlog, has charged us with finding them an individual to hold a key position within their organization as they expand throughout the three-state marketplace.

The position is charged with carrying out office survey work and helping manage internal activities as well as well as coordinating field crews and undertaking client relationship management. The company has a well-established operation with technical survey expertise that is expanding through staffing, new technology, processes, and procedures.

Reporting directly to company leadership and ownership, this role could ideally be the right position for a talented senior professional registered land surveyor capable of contributing to operations. It could also be a role for an experienced mid-level surveyor looking to find a home where they can be mentored and develop a bit within the structure of a well-funded company that values their abilities and contribution.

Internally, we are referring to the position as survey paradise. Like so many of the positions Sequence recruits, this one is truly unique to the industry.

Based in Oklahoma City, with excellent quality of life, low cost of living, and strong compensation, the role seems an excellent match for a surveyor living in the region who is looking to be part of building an organization or someone that would be seeking to move to an area offering a better quality of living for themselves and/or family. It is also a role with an organization that genuinely values individuals as resources, empowering them for success and investing in their future.

This position requires a full understanding of land surveying and development processes on various projects, including large linear, government, and residential/commercial/retail. From an operational side, beyond everyday activities and management of administrative staff, this role requires the ability to manage multiple survey crews working on a various type of activities, including field survey, construction staking, and contracting with public agencies for review/analysis of final maps, parcel maps, records of surveys and certificates of compliance.

From a project perspective, this includes being charged with following the contract scope of work while carefully managing staff time, project schedule, and budget working in-house and in the field. Known chiefly for producing outstanding technical work products for private and public sector clients, they are a leader offering Commercial & Residential Boundary Surveys, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, Topographic Surveys, Construction Control and Staking, FEMA Elevation Certificates, Permitting and Research, As-Had staff Built Surveys, Plat and Legal Descriptions, Entitlement Surveys and Condominium Mapping, etc. Leadership also serves as subject matter experts to the region in a number of varied technical capacities.

The ideal candidate experience will include several years working as a Licensed Land Surveyor (PLS), having worked on projects beginning with a title report and contract. With desired knowledge/experience reviewing project surveyor for a clear understanding of the project deliverables and a tentative plan/strategy to be proposed. Transportation knowledge and experience a plus to consideration. Specifically, the desire is to have an Oklahoma Registered Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or an individual able to acquire licensure. The organization would support obtaining reciprocal licensure from other states or developing a professional who is on their way to licensure.

A plus to consideration would be an understanding of operations activities or perhaps some private survey practice or entrepreneurial experience.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an innovative and progressive organization and grow it as your own. A place where a motivated, self-starter interested in advancing their career and able/willing to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that is dominated by realistic expectations would find a long-term home. The right individual could think of this almost like a franchise opportunity in that the organization has all the support resources of the larger organization to allow the right person to continue to build a very robust practice; also share in the rewards of that success.

Our client offers superior advancement opportunities and a very competitive salary and very strong benefits package. Relocation assistance would also be available. Essentially, anything of reason can be structured for the right individual.
