We are seeking a Senior Level Engineer Manager to join our team of 20+ members here at Intelli-Building Control & Solutions, LLC (IBCS). Originally a Chicago based start-up in 2009, we now serve the Midwest through several locations that include a sales office in the Chicago Green Exchange, a UL-508A certified panel shop in Lakemoor, IL, and our Indiana office based out of Indianapolis. In these markets, we act as dealers for Reliable Controls®, Delta Controls® and Lynxspring®.

As a controls contractor, IBCS provides turnkey Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems for commercial new construction and retrofits. We primarily work with Mechanical HVAC equipment but also provide solutions in Lighting, Door Access, and Video Surveillance systems.

While on construction sites we still bring a hard hat and lunch pail but are mainly identified as the guys with their laptops out. However, before our team is on-site, it’s the engineers putting together the game plan that lays the foundation for success.

IBCS engineers are primarily office based and can work from any of our locations depending on their level of experience. Although it’s not often required, you will occasionally need to go to job sites to view equipment and attend meetings. However, if you prefer spending more time getting eyes-on in the field, we only ask that you complete your jobs in-full and to the quality we are known for.

Intelli-Building Control & Solutions is recognized as a preferred building automation provider with excellence in engineering, programming, project management, commissioning, and execution of the project. The ability to effectively communicate on the phone, via e-mail, and in-person is a MUST as you will often be coordinating and submitting your work to engineers or mechanical companies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Engineer Manager will have the same day-to-day tasks as our Design Engineers, such as designing Temperature Control (TC) drawings for construction projects but will also need to be a senior figure for the company and to coworkers. You will work closely with the VP of Operations to complete designs for major projects while implementing internal initiatives to improve the department. One major role will be that of a mentor, using your years of experience in the engineering and construction field to educate both customers and coworkers.

Day-to-day duties include:

• Produce Temperature Control drawings, Sequence of Operation, Device Schedules, I/O Wiring Diagrams, Bill of Material List, and Hardware or Software Cut Sheets
• Coordinate with Engineering Firms, General Contractors, and Subcontractors to receive up-to-date documentation and information to adjust your design accordingly
• Be knowledgeable, familiar, and up to date with controllers and devices that IBCS uses
• Select and compile materials to be used including but not limited to I/O Controllers, Valves, Actuators, Relays, Current and Temperature Sensors.
• Use design software and MS Office programs to create engineered documentation

Leadership duties include:

• Reporting and coordinating with the VP of Engineering on upcoming projects and work distribution
• Assist coworkers with design >
• Maintaining a pulse on projects and being able to step in for conflict resolution
• Directing the engineering department by implementing internal practices and processes
• Assist sales by attending pre-bid meetings and helping drive the value of our designs

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS: A candidate should have relevant experience and education in the commercial application of building automation systems. Depending on the skill level of the applicant, this includes but is not limited to:

• 5+ years of experience working for a contractor in the construction field
• 10+ years of experience using design programs such as AutoCAD, Visio, or similar
• 10+ years of experience working with drawings and wiring diagrams
• Understanding of Mechanical and Electrical systems
• Understanding of communication and construction standards
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite of business tools

Additional Requirements

• Must have a valid driver's license in good standing
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
