Certified Public Accountant / Auditor

CPA to Service as Senior Internal Auditor - Construction / Development

Sequence has been retained and is currently seeking a capable Senior Internal Auditor for one of the nation's largest and most capable construction site development organizations.

Specifically, we are seeking to find them an individual capable of for leading and performing individual internal audit projects as part of the organization internal audit plan. This responsibility includes developing internal audit scope, performing internal audit procedures, and preparing internal audit reports reflecting the results of the work performed. Work performed will include coverage of functional and operating units, focusing on operational, financial and IT processes and controls.

This position is slotted to be based in Phoenix, Arizona with travel to varied divisional office on occasion. This is currently the highest-profile position of its like here in the Tempe / Phoenix area. Generally speaking, evolvement and duties for the role include:

  • Planning audit engagements and lead audit teams during field work in accordance with professional standards;
  • Assisting with development of audit scope, objectives and detailed audit programs;
  • Developing a thorough understanding of the Company’s operations;
  • Leading audit team in performing audits and assure assigned audit work is completed on time and within budget;
  • While in the field, direct and review the work performed by other internal audit personnel, including co-sourcing resources;
  • Evaluating audit findings and develop recommendations for process, policy and internal control improvements;
  • Communicating effectively with division management throughout the audit process regarding developing a mutually effective audit work schedule, explaining audit exceptions and providing recommendations;
  • Preparing and presenting the results of audit work and recommendations to management in the form of oral and written communications (presentations and audit reports);
  • Conducting Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 internal control activities;

Participating in the performance of reviews and risk assessments in various audit areas;

Assisting in the completion of external audit fieldwork;

Participating in special projects, as requested;

The company currently utilizes a number of internal and cloud-based software systems for accounting, estimating, and project management. Anyone familiar with mainstream packages and application will be able to adjust to their systems.

This role is slated to be based in our clients Tempe/Phoenix area office. There is some potential for some telecommute after embedded and up to speed in the operation. There would also be travel to Divisional sites for audit activities (up to 30% - all expenses paid).

Desired background includes:

  • BS / BA degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or CIA designation required (or documented progress towards designation);
  • CISA, CISSP, CITP, CGEIT, CFE or other similar certification a strong plus to consideration;
  • 2-4 years of public accounting or private industry experience;
  • Working knowledge of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act
