Job Description Branch Manager - Environmental and Emergency Response Services

As part of our business-building practice efforts, Sequence has been exclusively retained to assist in the buildout and establishment of varied branch operations for one of the nation's leading environmental emergency response, service, and cleanup organizations.

The company is behind response and support activities for some of the most extensive industrial facilities and niche clientele in transportation, utility, and energy, as well as partners with general contractors and property owners throughout North America. Also, extremely well-known and respected for tackling government responses and requirements for multiple local, state, and federal jurisdictions.

On behalf of executive leadership, we are seeking regional leaders for multiple expanding and new branches throughout the United States.

Specifically, to bring a General Manager for the established and growing the Greater Albany New York metropolitan operation.

This is currently the most high-profile role of its kind within the niche industry locally. An opportunity to take on an established, robust regional operation with the backing of a more significant and well-supported corporate infrastructure to expand its footprint and improve EBIDTA.

With this in mind, this role is charged with oversight of multi-site operations for assigned branches and client-embedded, satellite, or offsite corporate personnel. Key to the position is overall leadership and operational management, driving profitable business efforts, and engaging actively with personnel development.

The role is more business directed than hands-on field efforts related (though there is field oversight), with responsibility for P&L for operations in additional to developing and carrying out operating plans.

Specifically, this includes collaboration with sales personnel and contracts leadership to build and enhance customer relationships/satisfaction, operational leadership and compliance efforts, and deep involvement in workforce planning, development, and management.

In addition to proven operations and branch leadership experience, we seek a proven leader who can run local business units and grow operations as their own, with knowledge and understanding of environmental emergency response, remediation, industrial, and waste services. Ideally, this includes rail, pipe, road spill response and facilities emergency response as well as industrial cleaning and decommissioning as well as waste treatment, transport, and disposal. The organization is also deep in remedial efforts ranging from onsite lead and abatement to underground cleanup and field remediation.

So, a proven operational leader with domain experience in one or more of these areas and the ability to adapt to core service offerings and oversee branch and field personnel would be the right fit for the role.

This position is as a result of expansion efforts. The organization often doesn't hire and works to avoid the up-and-down nature of feast and famine, which can lead to a cycle of hiring and layoffs of personnel. So, this is a stable and long-term addition to their leadership team. It also has the potential to grow within the organization regionally or nationally.

The ideal candidate would have at least 5+ to 7+ years of operational leadership experience with additional project management and/or practice leadership background.

This could be the perfect role for a seasoned senior-level individual looking to find a long-term home with a growing and stable organization. It could also be an opportunity for a talented mid-level professional looking to step up and progress into a leadership opportunity.

The company believes that People are its most important asset. The company has a corporate culture that values individuals as resources. The organization has loyal employees who have been with the firm for many years. They have watched it grow from a fledgling organization to one that has developed and built global operations. Their approach is to solicit – indeed to expect – input from each of its employees. They tell us that they foster an atmosphere of mutual respect and encourage the free exchange of ideas to remain a vibrant, thriving company. Leadership believes that this unique culture has resulted in the company having some of the industry's most engaged employees and one of the key reasons it leads industry competitors in key performance metrics of note by comparison.

This carries over to benefits as well as rewards for hard work. Beyond salary and bonus/commissions based on performance and metrics, this full-time direct hire position offers a strong benefits plan, including medical/dental/vision, 401k, life insurance, bonus, profit sharing, vacation and sick leave, etc. The roles require occasional travel to varied client sites within the region but are primarily local regarding daily efforts (unlikely to be overnight away from home on numerous occasions).

Relocation assistance is available for the right individual from any location within the nation.
