Director of Development – Memphis, TN

Our client, a well-respected not-for-profit, is seeking a Director of Development to Partner with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to create, implement, and manage the short- and long-term resource development strategy of the organization.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead and support the development of strategic initiatives and the implementation of annual fundraising goals
• Support the Executive Director in researching, securing and managing philanthropic relations
• Design and implement stewardship programs to expand current donor base, increase levels of giving and increase donor retention
• The acquisition of major gifts from individuals is an expectation of this position.
• Lead philanthropic communications and manage donor and volunteer databases
• Serve as Lead in the development, planning and execution of fundraisers and Special Events

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A Bachelor’s Degree (minimum) in Business, Finance, Marketing, English Literature or a related field and combined experience (5+ years) in fundraising and/or marketing/public relations in the nonprofit sector are
• Five (5) years of formal leadership experience and/or demonstrated competence as a manager of personnel; major projects; and/or organizational processes
• Proficiency in computer operational skills including databases, Microsoft and Google product suites on multiple operating systems
• Demonstrated ability to secure major gifts from individuals
• Demonstrated ability to lead within organizations or businesses with gross revenue of $1M+
• Demonstrated proficiency in donor management and volunteer management software
• Experience with program decision-making, strategic planning; operational execution
