Senior Downhole Well Construction Design Engineer

Our client specializes in innovative solutions for the oil and gas industry. We are seeking a Lead Engineer to drive the design and development of cutting-edge downhole tools, focusing on Wellbore Departure, Well Abandonment, Thru Tubing, Fishing Tools, Milling, and Drilling services.

Role Overview:

As a Lead Engineer, you will oversee the entire product lifecycle, from concept to commercialization, of mechanical downhole tools. You will be responsible for conceptualizing ideas, evaluating technical feasibility, creating CAD models, testing prototypes, and iterating based on field feedback.

Primary Responsibilities:

Lead the development of downhole tools from concept to product launch.

Perform engineering calculations and apply design standards.

Produce advanced analyses and mathematical models.

Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and organize requirements.

Generate engineering product files, including CAD models and drawings.

Coordinate with Manufacturing and suppliers for prototype testing.

Design testing procedures, conduct lab tests, and document results.

Execute projects using project management skills and product development processes.

Provide corrective actions for manufacturing defects and field issues.

Participate in technical reviews and create maintenance/operating documentation.

Provide training and support to clients and field representatives.

Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance to technicians and designers.

Author technical reports, papers, articles, patents, and presentations.

Contribute to design standards and support best practices.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Minimum 10 years of experience in downhole tool design and product development.

Experience in oil & gas industry essential.

Strong project management and execution skills.

Experience with remedial, milling, and fishing tools preferred; drilling/completions tools acceptable.

Proficiency in 3D CAD (Pro/ENGINEER Creo or equivalent).

Ability to conduct FEA analyses (Abaqus or equivalent is a plus).

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
