Texas Practice Leader - Landscape Architecture & Planning (Austin, Dallas, or Houston)

A prominent consulting firm is seeking a Texas Practice Leader for Landscape Architecture & Planning to oversee and expand its landscape studios. This leadership role will involve directing client development efforts and managing the design and permitting of landscape architecture, land development, and planning projects across Texas. The firm boasts an established, award-winning national landscape architecture practice with over 20 years of experience and 13 studios nationwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with firm and leadership teams to develop and execute strategic growth plans for landscape architecture and planning (LA+P).
  • Enhance the firm’s LA+P brand regionally while expanding the team’s capabilities throughout Texas and the Southwest.
  • Identify and pursue new client relationships, develop additional work within existing projects, and participate in business development meetings.
  • Foster professional relationships across the firm’s Texas offices and LA+P leadership team, engaging in the planning, design, and permitting of projects.
  • Mentor and develop next-generation leaders and junior staff within the landscape architecture team.
  • Supervise, review, and approve the work of project staff while coaching and motivating the team.
  • Guide workforce planning, recruiting, and hiring initiatives for Texas studios.
  • Oversee project and studio financial performance, including invoicing and collections.
  • Collaborate with other firm services to enhance cross-selling opportunities and ensure project coordination.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15 years of successful, related landscape architecture and planning experience, particularly in site development for both small and large projects.
  • Established network of regional clients, with strong business development and client management skills.
  • Passion for design excellence and creating inspiring spaces while providing high-quality service.
  • Professional Landscape Architect license in Texas is required; licenses in other states are a plus.
  • Proven management experience with the ability to grow and lead staff.
  • Experience in report and proposal writing, contract management, billing, and budgeting.
  • Strong attention to design details with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture is required; a Master’s degree is a plus.
