Sonic Driller – Environmental / Geotechnical Drilling

Sequence has been exclusively retained and is currently seeking a proven Sonic Driller for a fast-growing and expanding regional environmental and geotechnical operations across Nevada, California, and Arizona. Role can be based in anyone of those areas, or elsewhere with willingness to travel.
Our client supports complex site investigation and remediation work for commercial, industrial, and public-sector clients, with capabilities that include soil sampling, groundwater and vapor well installation, direct push sampling, and long-term groundwater monitoring. As project demand has continued to grow, the firm is expanding its field leadership team and seeking an experienced sonic driller and operator who can lead safe, disciplined drilling operations with consistency and professionalism.

The Opportunity
This role is focused specifically on sonic drilling. The Sonic Driller will serve as the lead operator on a sonic rigs (track and trailer rigs) and will be responsible for executing drilling activities in accordance with the drilling plans – from mobilization and setup through completion and abandonment.
You will coordinate equipment readiness, manage day-to-day drilling operations, lead crews (typically two the three men driller / helper crew), maintain accurate documentation, and represent the company professionally in the field with client personnel and jobsite stakeholders.
Scope of Leadership
This is a hands-on, field-based seat with direct responsibility for operational execution. You’ll run the rig, lead the crew, and ensure job performance aligns with safety standards, project requirements, and production expectations. The strongest candidates will be operators who naturally lead from the front – calm, safety-driven, and highly dependable, with a steady approach to field execution and crew management.
You will own drilling execution across:
- Sonic drilling operations on track and trailer sonic rigs
- Crew leadership, training, safety cadence, and jobsite coordination
- Equipment readiness, inspection, and safe working condition (tools, vehicles, rig)
- Job program review and operational planning to ensure correct execution and scheduling
- Oversight and crew time management
- Field documentation including daily drill reports, well logs, and tailgate meetings
- Professional client-facing communication and jobsite collaboration
- Ongoing certification management, CEUs, JSAs, and safety compliance requirements
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate would be a seasoned Sonic Driller with deep hands-on experience leading sonic operations.
- 5+ years of experience as the lead driller with experience operating sonic rigs.
- Current driller license as required in applicable states
- CDL (Class A or B)
- Strong safety orientation and ability to enforce crew compliance and site standards
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and physical exam
- Dependability, strong judgment, and professionalism in field environments
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Willingness to travel, work overtime, and maintain a strong team attitude

The role additionally has strong opportunity for overtime and travel work (significant backlog), and the company supports ongoing development, training, and certification. A driller could make extensive overtime and total compensation if desired. Operation would also be open to contract driller under the right circumstances.
