Transportation Lead / Office Executive

A well-established engineering firm is seeking a Transportation Lead / Office Executive (OE) with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and excellent interpersonal skills to lead their San Antonio office. This dynamic professional will play a pivotal role in fostering collaborative relationships with clients, teaming partners, and multi-disciplinary teams. The firm has over 35 years of success and growth, and the OE will report to the Business Unit Executive while being supported by established technical resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in obtaining TxDOT CEI, Schematic, and PS&E contracts as a prime contractor and support business development within the San Antonio area and assigned TxDOT regions throughout Texas.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with TxDOT decision-makers and local municipalities to enhance company visibility and secure engineering and surveying contracts.
  • Cultivate relationships with current and prospective clients while maintaining a high public profile through active participation in civil and professional organizations.
  • Prepare and approve proposals and qualifications statements, and assist with managing plan production for roadway, streets, highways, and transportation-related systems and multi-modal projects.
  • Maintain necessary TxDOT certifications.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of corporate-wide marketing plans.
  • Contribute to the overall strategy by aligning office goals with the firm’s mission and conducting market analyses to diversify services and client base.
  • Champion the client management program for the office and ensure effective data usage in pipeline and capture planning.
  • Facilitate communication across market sectors/teams, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing through regular meetings and workshops.
  • Enhance employee culture and engagement through team-building activities, recognition programs, and social events.
  • Collaborate with HR and Business Unit Presidents on performance evaluations, career development, and recruitment.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the firm, fostering an environment of respect and value for all employees.
  • Guide employees through changes in processes or technologies and monitor the firm’s safety and quality programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • PE licensure in Texas (or ability to obtain within three months of hire).
  • Strong technical background in TxDOT Transportation (CEI and/or Design Engineering).
  • Proven experience in business development and maintaining relationships with TxDOT and local municipalities as a prime consultant.
  • Experience in civil engineering related to land development and community infrastructure is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills for effective interaction with team members, clients, government officials, and the public.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to priorities and demands in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong understanding of risk management and loss prevention.
  • Superior organizational and planning skills with attention to detail.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills (MS Office, Teams, SharePoint, and relevant technical software) required.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and maintain a satisfactory driving record in accordance with company policy.
