Position: New Client Conversions – Portfolio Counselor

Job Description:

The Portfolio Counselor is a key role within our client's Investments' Private Client Group (PCG), acting as the short-term point of contact for high-net-worth clients. You will onboard and welcome new clients, utilizing your financial planning expertise and consultative approach to drive growth. This position offers ongoing sales coaching in a dynamic environment, supported by teams in Research, Operations, and the Investment Policy Committee (IPC). You will help guide clients, promote their mission, and uphold fiduciary responsibilities. Reporting to a group manager, you will receive personalized career development and guidance on managing client relationships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with client sales professionals to onboard new clients who have expressed interest in hiring for our client's Investments
  • Work with clients who have signed the Letter of Agreement (LOA) to develop and implement tailored investment strategies
  • Collaborate with clients to align their portfolio strategy with their financial goals and objectives
  • Educate clients on company investment philosophy, providing a clear understanding of the approach and what it means to work with the firm
  • Ensure clients are fully informed throughout the onboarding process and the early stages of their relationship with their Investments
  • Introduce clients to their long-term relationship manager after onboarding is complete
  • Oversee the transfer of client assets, ensuring a smooth and seamless process
  • Help bring in new assets through client referrals by working with existing clients who are satisfied with the service
  • Leverage warm leads provided by the sales team for asset acquisition
  • Work closely with several teams, including sales, relationship managers, and operational teams, to ensure seamless service and client experience
  • Regularly communicate with clients to ensure their needs are met and that their onboarding process is progressing smoothly
  • Drive the energy and commission side of sales without having to engage in cold calling or prospecting

Experience and Certifications Required:

  • 3+ years experience working in financial services.
  • 3-8 years with enough knowledge to speak about investments and capital markets.
  • Hold Series 65 license or required upon hire.

  • Ability to effectively use financial planning tools and CRM systems.
  • Ability to drive sales and bring in new assets through referrals and warm leads.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage client transitions, asset transfers, and onboarding processes.
