Land Planner
Sequence has been retained and is currently seeking a capable Land Planner to undertake site specific analysis and geographic resources efforts for municipal projects and undertakings throughout the central valley of California (primary focus throughout the Fresno to Bakersfield region).
As the most high-profile positions of their kind in the region, these are very unique roles with long term job stability and wealth of project efforts.
The roles hold responsibility for oversight and management of planning projects, coordinating planning aspects of projects as well as engaging in hands on processing aspects. The right individual would possess in-depth knowledge within one or more planning specialties such as economic development, comprehensive planning, or environmental planning. Work would include compiling and interpreting complex data and then utilizing the information to prepare technical documents including General Plans and Specific Plans.
Ideally this would include the ability to develop plans for utilization of land and physical facilities of cities, counties, and metropolitan areas. Coupled with the aptitude to develop creative solutions to project issues.
General duties include:
- Gathering, compiling, and analyzing data on economic, social, and physical factors affecting land use
- Researching local and county ordinances, regional and state regulations, and transportation studies
- Developing recommendations affecting land use, environmental, public utilities, community facilities, housing, and transportation to control and guide development
- Assisting in preparing, coordinating, and facilitating public involvement and consensus-building meetings and workshops
- Visiting field sites to gather facts and data, and conduct investigations
- Reviewing reports, data, and/or entitlement applications completed by other staff
- Preparing technical memoranda, meeting minutes, transmittals, presentations, and other written materials
- Compiling, analyzing, and preparing data and other materials for proposals and proposal presentations
- Assisting in preparing noise, air modeling, land use, and socio-economic studies
- Conducting and overseeing research and documentation in support of NEPA and CEQA document preparation, and technical planning studies
Beyond planning experience and knowledgebase, the position requires a bachelor’s degree or advanced degrees in land use, urban, regional, or city planning, landscape architecture, geography, or related field required.

While based here in California, the organization would be open to relocating and capable professional into the area from another region.
