Project Civil Engineer (Land/Site Development/Wet Utilities)

Location: Wilmington, NC

Our client is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer with experience in site development and/or water and wastewater utility design to join their team in Wilmington, North Carolina.

This is an opportunity to step into a hands-on, production-focused role where you will take ownership of projects from concept through construction documents, working across both private development and public utility work.


The Role

This individual will serve as a lead engineer/designer on a variety of projects, including residential, commercial, and municipal infrastructure.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of full construction documents for site development and utility projects
  • Site layout, grading, drainage, and erosion control design
  • Stormwater management systems (detention/retention, storm drainage)
  • Water and sewer design, including pump stations and force mains
  • Roadway design and supporting infrastructure
  • Preparation of calculations, reports, and technical documentation
  • Coordination of project submittals and regulatory approvals
  • Permitting through local and state agencies

You’ll be working closely with internal teams across surveying, planning, and design, contributing to a collaborative, multidisciplinary project environment.


What They’re Looking For

  • Experience in site/civil design and/or water and wastewater engineering
  • FE required, PE preferred (or on track)
  • Strong working knowledge of design and permitting processes
  • Ability to manage project tasks from concept through construction documents
  • Experience with tools such as:
    • AutoCAD / Carlson
    • HydroCAD / Hydraflow
    • WaterCAD
    • AutoTURN
  • Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with clients, agencies, and internal teams
