We are currently recruiting for the following employment opportunities:

CNC Lathe and Mill Machinists/Setters

Our client specializes in contract prototyping, production and assembly of precision components and sub-assemblies for science, technology, and engineering instrumentation manufacturers. Reporting to the Production Supervisor these positions would be responsible to carry out skilled work using a CNC machine, monitor the CNC machine to perform the allocated tasks to meet targets, criteria and deadlines, set up CNC lathes and/or mills to complete new product/different functions, change the tooling of the CNC machine, observe machine operation to verify the accuracy of machine settings and to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, using precision measuring instruments such as micrometer and dial caliper, adjust machine control, including part process, verify “first piece inspection” using appropriate measuring instruments, generally monitor the work being undertaken and completed, testing and taking agreed critical measurements to identify problems and the need for adjustment etc. and to immediately make any adjustments as necessary, post edit CNC program to “fine tune” process for optimum performance, undertake agreed CNC inspections, maintain accurate data/records/documentation associated with your work, carry out planned tasks in accordance with contract/requirements on services and associated systems, carry out tasks within allotted time limits, ensure compliance with quality standards, policies and procedures, codes and legislation including health and safety, immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the organization and/or its clients/customers to management, contribute towards the smooth running of the team, responsibly use resources and control expenses to meet agreed budgetary controls, adhere to all organization policies and procedures, from time to time you may be expected to be part of special projects as are reasonably required of your job role, responsible for allocated workload and to meet all targets, other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Minimum 10 years lathe or mill machinist/setting experience
  • Programming experience would be an asset
  • Machinist certification an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Understand geometric dimensioning and tolerances
  • Experience working with tight tolerances
  • Working with Haas or Fanuk controls
  • Attention to detail and quality requirements
  • Able to use measuring devices
  • Interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to follow verbal and written skills
  • Organizational skills

The successful candidate will have a great attention to detail and will maintain company standards in the areas of housekeeping, attendance, and teamwork.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following skills, attributes, and experience:

  • 5+ years of experience machining and setting CNC Lathes and Mills
  • Able to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
