Title: Radiological Control Technicians (All Levels)
Location: Various Locations Across the US (Onsite Work)

Position Overview:
TradeWind Services is seeking Radiological Control Technicians (RCTs) of all levels to perform radiological monitoring, contamination control activities, personnel support, documentation, and radiological work coverage in accordance with site-specific radiological control procedures, DOE requirements, and applicable regulatory standards. Personnel will support safe execution of radiological work activities across facilities, operations, and field environments.
Key Responsibilities (All Levels):
- Conduct routine and non-routine radiological surveys (smears, air samples, contamination surveys, dose rate surveys, etc.)
- Support radiological work permits (RWPs), pre-job briefs, and job hazard analyses.
- Monitor radiological work evolutions to ensure compliance with ALARA principles, DOE requirements, and facility procedures.
- Perform posting and labeling of radiological areas in accordance with site controls.
- Use portable and fixed radiological instrumentation to perform monitoring and assessments.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, reports, and documentation required by regulatory or site-specific requirements.
- Identify abnormal radiological conditions and perform immediate notifications per procedure.
- Support incident response, spill clean-up, and radiological event investigations as needed.
- Ensure proper donning, doffing, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection where applicable.
Junior Radiological Control Technician
Experience: 0 – 1 Years
General Level: Entry level, working under direct supervision.
Additional Requirements:
- Completed formal radiological controls training or HP technician pipeline coursework.
- Perform surveys and job coverage under oversight of senior RCT personnel.
- Limited independent decision-making; follows established instructions and procedures.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Conduct basic contamination and dose rate surveys.
- Assist with monitoring work requiring radiological coverage.
- Perform routine area postings, instrument checks, and housekeeping tasks.
- Provide support for sample collection, logging, and transport to laboratories.
Mid- Radiological Control Technician
Experience: 1 – 3 Years
General Level: Fully competent, works independently with moderate complexity.
Additional Requirements:
- Demonstrated proficiency performing radiological surveys without direct supervision.
- Familiarity with multiple radiological work environments (e.g., fixed facility, field operations, D&D, glovebox, or high-contamination areas).
Typical Responsibilities:
- Lead routine radiological work coverage and pre-job planning activities.
- Conduct airborne radioactivity monitoring and dose tracking documentation.
- Mentor junior technicians; provide training assistance.
- Identify and recommend corrective actions to mitigate contamination or dose potential.
Senior Radiological Control Technician
Experience: 3+ Years
General Level: Subject matter expert; capable of high-hazard work, mentoring, troubleshooting, and program-level improvements.
Additional Requirements:
- Demonstrated leadership in radiological work planning, ALARA implementation, emergency response, and complex radiological controls.
- Ability to interpret radiological data trends and support program assessments.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Provide lead coverage for high-hazard, high-radiation, nuclear facility, or glovebox operations.
- Develop RWPs, radiological hold points, job coverage strategies, and ALARA plans.
- Perform technical reviews, investigations, corrective action planning, and causal analysis.
- Serve as SME for training, procedure review, and workforce mentoring.
Certifications & Qualifications (All Levels):
- Must meet DOE/NNSA site-specific qualification standards (e.g., DOE Radiological Control Technician Core or equivalent).
- Must pass medical evaluations required for radiation worker duties and PPE use.
- Respiratory protection certification where required.
- Must complete all facility qualification boards prior to independent work.
