Position Overview:
TradeWind Services is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to support design, implementation, and integration efforts across various federal and advanced nuclear energy design and construction projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in electrical engineering, instrumentation and controls (I&C), and programmable logic controller (PLC) programming, with the ability to contribute to complex, multidisciplinary projects from concept through execution.
This position offers the flexibility to work onsite, hybrid, or remotely, while collaborating with engineering teams supporting Department of Energy (DOE) and new nuclear initiatives. Prior DOE experience is not required, but candidates should possess technical expertise applicable to the DOE and nuclear industry environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement electrical systems and control logic for industrial and nuclear energy projects.
- Prepare and review electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and specifications.
- Program, test, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems and HMI interfaces.
- Perform instrumentation and control (I&C) design and integration to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Support field engineering activities including commissioning, startup testing, and system troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions.
- Participate in design reviews, hazard analyses, and configuration management activities.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Provide technical input for project planning, estimates, schedules, and deliverables.
- Prepare and deliver engineering documentation, calculations, and technical reports.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design, instrumentation and controls (I&C), or industrial automation.
- Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, or similar design tools.
- Strong understanding of NEC, IEEE, and ISA standards.
- Demonstrated ability to support multiple projects with varying technical requirements.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented, multidisciplinary environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in nuclear, DOE, or other federal project environments.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and control networks.
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity principles for control systems.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one.
- Experience supporting field installation, testing, or commissioning activities.
