Title: Part-Time Lockout Tagout & Electrical Safety Instructors for HAMMER Training

Position Overview:

TradeWind Services is seeking technically qualified Training Instructors to support mission-critical training programs at the Hanford Site. In this role, instructors will deliver high-quality training in Hazardous Energy Control (Lockout/Tagout) and Electrical Safety to personnel across DOE organizations, prime contractors, and subcontractors.

This position operates in a dynamic training environment where schedules are driven by site demand. Instructors will work under the oversight of the client while maintaining responsibility for independently planning, organizing, and executing instructional activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instructor-led training in Lockout/Tagout and/or Electrical Safety program areas.
  • Facilitate both classroom instruction and hands-on practical evaluations.
  • Apply a variety of instructional methods to support adult learning and regulatory compliance.
  • Evaluate trainee performance and ensure comprehension of safety-critical concepts.
  • Support training aligned with DOE and Hanford Site requirements, including:
    • DOE-0336 (Lockout/Tagout Program)
    • DOE-0359 (Electrical Safety Program)
  • Collaborate with the HAMMER Training Logistics Team for scheduling and coordination.
  • Participate in course material reviews and assist in development or revision of training content as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with all client policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Hazardous Energy Control (Lockout/Tagout) Training Instruction may include:
    • Authorized Worker (Initial & Retraining)
    • CO-Qualified Worker (Initial & Retraining)
    • CO Administrator (Initial & Retraining)
    • Hands-on evaluations and procedural compliance
  • Electrical Safety Training Instruction may include:
    • NFPA 70E Electrical Safety (Initial & Refresher)
    • National Electrical Code (NEC): Grounding, Overcurrent Protection, Wiring Methods
    • Basic Electrical Safety & DOE-0359 Program
    • Breaker Operation & Equipment Safety
    • Working Near Power Lines
    • Capacitors, Batteries, and Electrical Systems
    • Code Updates (NEC 2020, RCW/WAC)
    • Overhead Crane Electrical Inspection.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of eighteen (18) months experience providing instructional support on training subjects including or similar to those listed in above.
  • Experience with instructional techniques and adult education methods, applied through training or experience.
  • Hazardous Energy Control (Lockout/Tagout) Specific Requirements:
    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with complex Lockout/Tagout regulations (NFPA 70E 120.2D(3)) (multiple sources of energy, crafts, work locations, shifts). Refer to NFPA 70E: Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace®.
    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching Lockout/Tagout courses at a Government Owned Facility [i.e., Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Defense (DOD)], at commercial nuclear facilities, or industrial facilities.
    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an Electrical Engineer, Electrical Inspector, or Journeyman Electrician with varied types of work performed (i.e., industrial wiring, demolition, brownfield setup).
    • A working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NFPA-70).
    • A working knowledge of the Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace (NFPA-70E).
  • Electrical Safety Specific Requirements:
    • Instructor(s) shall hold or have held a Washington State Electrician license. License number must be provided.
    • Minimum of eighteen (18) months of previous experience in education or industrial safety training.
    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an Electrical Engineer, Electrical Inspector, or Journeyman Electrician with varied types of work performed (i.e., industrial wiring, demolition, brownfield setup).
    • A working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NFPA-70).
    • A working knowledge of the Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace (NFPA-70E).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working at a Government Operated Facility, i.e., Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Defense (DOD).
  • Previous technical instructor experience.
  • Previous experience performing this specific training or be approved to participate in on-the-job training by the HAMMER Logistics Team.
  • Ability to respond on short notice to requests to teach training courses.
  • Experience on the Hanford site will improve the ability of the individual(s) to complete the necessary activities.
  • Basic use of Audio/Visual (A/V) equipment.
  • Comfortable speaking in front of groups.
  • Basic use of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong instructional presentation skills, including the use of facilitation skills, questioning techniques, and in-class student feedback.
  • Strong instructional presentation skills, including presenting to a diverse student population; i.e., professional, bargaining unit, and management, etc.

Salary and Benefits Information:

Expected Salary Range: $75-$125/hour (depending on experience)
