EDM Machinist

Duties:

- Set up and operate EDM machine for the cutting of metallic materials.
- Interpret blueprints, sketches/shop drawings, and engineering specifications.
- Tool life management
- Perform 1st piece, in-process and last piece inspection using micrometers, calipers, comparators, various gauges according to process documentation.
- Perform operator maintenance.
- Diagnose and correct equipment or tool issues.
- Perform basic de-burr or rework of work in-process.
- Maintain work station to 5S standards.
- Develop, track, and optimize machining parameters for different materials.
- Develop and make any required fixturing to support the EDM area.
- Perform preventative maintenance of EDM machines as required.
- Perform other various machining functions while machines are running to support the operations of the shop.
- Operate Electrical Discharge Machining, Computer Numeric Control, Screw Machines and/or inspection equipment to support a production-paced environment.
- Perform all work according to Advanced Machining and Tool safety standards.
- Comply with all Advanced Machining and Tooling policies and procedures.

Physical Demands:

- At times, sedentary.
- At times, 95% standing.
- Carry parts and materials up to 50 pounds.
- Work the forklift to move anything over 50 pounds.
- Position requires lifting, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds.
- Routinely reach, twist, bend and grasp to package/unpackage parts, move and set tools, equipment and material.

Experience:

- 5+ years CNC wire or sinker EDM set-up, operating and basic programming experience.
- Experience with CNC EDM hole drilling/ hole proper set up.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
- Ability to read, write and itnerpret written instructions, blueprints, shop drawings and engineering specifications in English.
- Proficient use of basic shpp arithmetic.
- Experience with 3-axis machine set up and operation is required.
- Must be able to understand CMM (Coordinate Measurement Machine) reports.
- High School Diploma or GED.

The purpose of this position is to support the department's ability to achieve its goals and objectives. This includes safe and efficient operation of a EDM machine allowing for the achievement of customer expectations for quality and on-time delivery.
