Of course you will be making sure the job gets done, and done right. Your job is to supervise employees and contractors, onsite and virtual.
Modernization, upgrades, time-scale, and cost benefit decisions are yours. And of course you will be doing performance evaluations, adding to the team, and getting rid of the people who aren't working out.
You need to have been in technology for the last ten years. A BA in Business, MBA, or any of the various computer degrees is fine. This is not a technical role, it is a leadership role.
Yes, you will have to make sure your analysts get the real needs from the rest of the company. You are responsible for making sure things work.
