Job Description
Data architects interact with senior business and IT clients to provide team leadership and hands-on technical and functional expertise. This role will help drive strategy, data governance, master data process design, high level architectures, and implementations for the client. Candidates must have strong architecture experience with the ability to facilitate a framework tool selection, including developing logical architectures and developing a conceptual governance structures. The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of building large scale projects from the ground up.

Skills & Responsibilities:
  • Conceptualize and socialize possible tools, technologies, processes to the client and build value proposition
  • Architect and lead implementations and governances processes
  • Analyze database and business systems in order to perform data modeling such as, but not limited to, high level conceptual business/data models, entity-relationship logical data models, and detailed physical database design models
  • Identify strategy for data acquisition and archival with a key focus on simplicity and data quality
  • Develop a relevant roadmap and evaluate related strategies and tools
  • Develop strategies for key enterprise entities
  • Partner with business and other IT teams for data quality and stewardship programs
  • Establish a model and metadata driven approach
  • Conduct technical assessments to recommend the future state technical architecture to the client
  • Establish technical recommendations for optimized data access and retention for the data storage


Key Requirements:
  • Experience at all levels of technical delivery including development, testing, design, and architecture
  • IT standards and governance expertise
  • Analysis and documentation of MDM requirements
  • Strong experience with MDM architecture
  • Experience with at least two MDM tools
  • Strong understanding of data management principles
  • Knowledge of data warehouse and operational systems
  • Experience with ETL, BI, middleware, and messaging technologies
  • Experience working with multiple technical platforms
  • Five or more years of consulting experience with technical architecture analysis and design
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment
  • Ability to devise creative technical solutions
  • Ability to convey a strong presence, professional image, and deal confidently with complex technical problems
  • Willingness to travel


Project Communication:
  • Coordinate and conduct code reviews
  • Conduct and facilitate requirements, design, and implementation reviews
  • Review user adoption of deliverables and acceptance testing
  • Publish coding standards and best practices for developers and testers
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately


Industry Expertise:
  • Individuals must have experience working in the energy domain with progressive experience in information management and architecture over the past 7-10 years, including:
  • large scale data delivery & data warehouse
  • master data management
  • information quality
  • information governance and stewardship


Education:
  • A BA or BS is required for this position
  • A degree in information technology, MIS, or engineering is preferred
