Job Description
The project manager directs project execution from beginning to end to ensure successful implementation as defined in the statement of work. Project managers identify and develop the conceptual solution and business requirements. They must understand key elements and attributes of data relevant to the solution, including their definition and the relationship between them. Strong interpersonal skills are required to facilitate: the successful management of scope, schedule, and budget; customer meetings; requirements gathering; quality reviews; deliverable approvals; and project decisions with key stakeholders and project teams.

Candidates should also be capable of estimating tasks and building complete plans for execution of engagements and a proven track record of successful project delivery with increasing responsibility over time. The project manager is responsible for all customer interactions, including but not limited to building a growing relationship, effective project communication to all stakeholders, and identifying future potential opportunities.

Skills & Responsibilities:
  • Create and execute project work plan and WBS, including the ability to revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Implement a change control process with appropriate approval mechanisms
  • Identify resources needed and assign and monitor individual tasks
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of the project, scope, schedule, and budget
  • Review deliverables prepared by team before passing to client
  • Prepare for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures
  • Track and minimize exposure and risk on the project
  • Track and resolve issues and project backlog identified as part of the project, including escalations where appropriate
  • Identify business requirements and ensure designs adequately meet the requirements of the project while remaining aligned with the overall program strategy and architecture
  • Quality assurance criteria and test cases
  • Regulatory requirements
  • Industry best practices
  • Capturing and refining the ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ business processes, especially as they pertain to information management and program delivery
  • Expert at understanding user needs by facilitating and gathering user requirements and preferences as well as leading/recommending solutions that meet these needs


Key Requirements:
  • Experience developing business cases for information management projects including development of ROI, NPV, and risk estimating
  • Experience implementing/participating in MDM, metadata, profiling, and information quality projects or programs
  • Experience with data modeling is preferred


Project Communication:
  • Develop and build customer relationship and communication
  • Communicate with project team members and program delivery in remote locations
  • Prepare and deliver weekly status reports
  • Conduct and facilitate meetings, status communications, and project communications
  • Coordinate user adoption, including sign off of deliverables and acceptance testing
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately
  • Define naming standards and a project repository


Industry Expertise:
  • Deep experience working within an energy domain with progressive experience over the past 7-10 years.
  • Must have worked at all levels of technical delivery, including development, testing, design, and architecture and experience with any data delivery tool is preferred
  • In addition, candidates must have exposure to information management methodologies, including:
  • Subject matter expertise in oil & gas upstream
  • Large scale data delivery (BI) and data warehouse
  • Master data management
  • Metadata management
  • Information quality
  • Information governance and stewardship
  • PPDM


Education:
  • A BA or BS is required for this position
  • A degree in an energy discipline (e.g. geology, petrophysics) engineering, information technology, or MIS is preferred
