Title: Quality Systems Manager

Location: New Hartford, NY


The Quality Systems Manager is responsible for providing quality information systems support, integration and training to the organization. This position, within the Quality Assurance business function, will focus on the company’s quality information systems. These systems are used within Quality, the laboratory, on the production floor, and by the commercial organization. This role will interface with other operational functions such as IS and Production to support systems integration and improvement.


    • Coordinate maintenance, enhancement, and extension of company's Quality Information Systems.
    • Coordinate continuous improvement and convergence activities for these systems.
    • Coordinate QA interaction with Information Services department (IT).
    • Support integration activities for core systems (SAP, STAR, Wonderware).
    • Provide support to the STAR Steering Group by interfacing with Chair and members on prioritization of issues, providing feedback to the Quality Systems Manager on status of issues, and providing support at the Project Management level for mini-projects (including project plan, scope, design, timelines, and deployment plans).
    • Provide support to the wider quality systems user community by helping to trouble-shoot incidents at a high level to ensure they are “real issues” and by coordinating with the Steering Group Chair to ensure issues raised by users are specific and detailed.
    • Work with other QA and business functions on development and deployment of systems such as QI Analyst (real-time SPC/SQC), STAR-SAP integration, definition and deployment of standard data views for use by statistical packages such as MiniTab, and other systems such as Access, Excel, etc. Help develop and implement statistical rules and exception handling procedures to ensure a uniform site-to-site approach to QIA.
    • Act as the Administrator for the system data mining tool, Oracle Discoverer, providing support to users in creating new Business areas, deploying workbooks from the Test to Live environment, and acting as a gatekeeper on new workbooks to ensure they are not replicates of existing workbooks.
    • Monitor the performance of the Quality Information System by tracking metrics such as numbers of tickets raised, modules with tickets, enhancements versus bugs, tickets raised and closed, and tickets per site

Experience and Skills:

  • B.S. /B.A. in Quality or Engineering
  • 8 years in a quality management role with experience in:
  • AS9100 Quality Systems
    • SPC principles and implementation
    • TQM, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Experience with data systems that support formal ISO Quality Management Systems is required.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing a plus.
