Job Title: Evening Freight Center Manager

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Relocation: No – Local candidates only

Compensation: $90K base + bonus

Education Requirements: BA/BS preferred


As a FCM, you will be responsible for the direction and leadership of the night time shift of a service center. You will be required to resolve problems, plan the operation and its staffing, assigning, and directing work to employees while utilizing an operational playbook to drive strong performance in key metrics.

Job Specifies:

Manage a fast-paced night time dock operation

Supervise all employees reporting to the service center, including coaching and administering corrective action

Maximize employee engagement and communicate with employees at all levels of the company

Recruit, interview, hire, and train new employees as applicable

Monitor the training and development of all employees

Track and audit employees’ hours; handle payroll issues and personnel changes

Plan the daily manpower needs to ensure the most timely and cost-effective execution of the shift

Responsible for maintaining the clean and safe working condition of the facility and equipment

Monitor, analyze, and implement all opportunities to cut costs and improve efficiencies

Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as all company policies/procedures

Work in a concerted effort with other supervisors and managers to provide direction, guidance, and coaching to team members within a positive work environment

Utilize ethical business practices in dealing with employees and the community

Route proper documentation and procedure control for hazardous material shipments

Prompt, daily attendance at assigned work location

The Ideal Candidate:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience preferred

At least 2 years of supervisory experience required

Experience with process improvement

Prior experience in a Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) environment required

Must be able to travel as needed, and have a valid driver's license

Thorough knowledge of LTL industry, transportation rules and regulations, OSHA laws, hazardous materials regulations, NMFC and Tariff rules, and company policies and procedures preferred

Proven leadership and strong interpersonal skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred

Strong communication skills

Strong analytical skills
