Job Description
A data modeler/analyst must have expertise in relational and dimensional data modeling and enterprise data management methodologies as well as possess the ability to analyze large volumes of data for business rules definition and validation. The data modeler/analyst’s primary responsibility is to develop the logical and physical design of an emerging data environment using dimensional modeling best practices. They will also perform complex data analysis in support of ad-hoc customer requests and analyzing, reporting, and developing recommendations on data.

Skills & Responsibilities:
  • Perform needed tasks to support the standardization of facts and dimensions
  • Develop entity and attribute descriptions and definitions for the models and resolve conflicts
  • Assist with ETL source-target mappings, data consolidation, and ensure the data architecture is applied properly
  • Expert-level SQL skills
  • Multi-task, meet deadlines, and anticipate the needs of the team along with ability to operate and promote a teamwork environment
  • Strong organization skills, ownership, and accountability
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment


Key Requirements:
  • 10+ years’ experience as a data modeler with involvement in multiple data warehousing and / or business intelligence reporting projects
  • Experience integrating disparate systems into conformed dimensions
  • Extensive experience designing relational and dimensional data models, deploying and supporting a large, complex data warehouse/data marts
  • Proven experience completing deliverables such as data models, data flow diagrams, and data value maps with minimal supervision
  • Significant experience with analyzing large volumes of data using a structure methodology
  • Experience working with a range of DBMS and data warehousing tools in different operating environments (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.)
  • Strong, hands-on ERWIN or ER/Studio experience and a good understanding of Informatica ETL, Essbase, MicroStrategy, and other related reporting technologies


Project Communication:
  • Strong analytical and communication skills to communicate effectively and confidently with project team members and management
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills required
  • Conduct user interviews and perform detailed data analysis to identify appropriate data sources, key facts, and dimensions that support the business requirements
  • Present information, analysis, ideas, and positions in a clear and convincing manner to both technical and nontechnical audiences


Industry Expertise:
  • Individuals must have experience working in the energy domain with progressive experience in information management and data management over the past 7-10 years, including:
  • Large scale data delivery and data warehouse
  • Master data management
  • Information quality
  • Information governance and stewardship


Education:
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, or business administration is required for this position
