Bill Rate: 80 or so
Conversion Salary: 100k – 105k, however if candidate checks all requirements, and has an active TS clearance we can discuss flexibility

Position Description:

Part of a team supporting the operations and maintenance of large scale and world-wide Enterprise IT environment covering application hosting and support; enterprise services; and infrastructure services. This candidate will serve as an Application Operations Engineer for the Department of State.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate day to day server application management, monitoring and incident response and resolution and resolution and design effective application monitoring systems.
• Lead Windows and Linux server virtualization in a VMWare environment and other crossdepartmental projects.
• Perform capacity planning and performance monitoring and trending of application behavior and recommending infrastructure or application changes to improve application performance.
• Review all application and infrastructure change requests.
• Support root cause analysis and problem resolution of operational issues involving interaction between applications, server hardware/firmware/OS and storage by working with software developers, QA, and infrastructure engineers.
• Provide support for the architecture, best practices for application hosting, and infrastructure deployment for each application.
• Support compliance with ISSO, including performing, managing or participating in security training, risk assessments, business continuity planning, and related activities
• Follow and implement best practices, policies, processes and procedures for managing IT systems, Incident, Availability, Problem, Change, Configuration, and other IT Service Management disciplines. Recognize process deficiencies and propose change and continual improvement
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Certifications

o BS/BA in related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
o ITIL v3 Foundations Certification
o 10+ years of experience implementing and supporting .NET and Java applications.
o 5+ years supporting hosted applications in a data center environment.
o 3+ years of experience working in large federal enterprise environments.
o Technical experience with systems networking, databases, Web development, and user support
