A small drug company is expanding their commercial team and needs a Vice President of Sales to build and lead their oncology business. This dynamic organization launched its first commercial product in 2019 and has multiple product launches on deck for the coming years. Their strong pipeline includes 6 new products in multiple therapeutic areas. The role reports into the Chief Commercial Officer, who is splitting off the sales leadership duties and creating this new role. The VP of Sales will lead a team that will grow to 100+ people by the end of this year.

The dynamic nature of this start-up like environment means that everyone is pitching in and working hard to get the organization to the next level. The company is publicly traded and profitable, they are now looking for biopharmaceutical professional to lead and continue to expand the sales team. This is a highly visible position within the company; you’ll work closely with the CCO and CEO to discuss what’s happening in the field and set strategies.

Responsibilities:
In this newly created position you will manage a team of Sales Directors and Representatives responsible for launching high-potential oncology therapies. Specific duties for this high-profile assignment include setting sales strategies, identifying market opportunities, establishing budgets and achieving/exceeding sales goals. You’ll work with regional managers to coach and provide sales direction for their teams and you’ll be an inspirational leader within the organization. You’ll also focus on developing/maintaining key customers and decision makers across the US. You will work closely with other teams within the company such as market access, regulatory, medical affairs and clinical to develop well thought out strategies to increase sales.
Overnight travel is estimated at 80%, and role can be based at HQ in the Bay Area or field-based anywhere in the US.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have the following qualities:
• 10+ years of pharmaceutical sales management experience at the Sr. Director or VP level
• 6+ years of national sales management experience
• Specific experience working in the oncology space
• Bachelor’s degree or better; MBA is preferred
