Strategy & Science
A small, high-growth pharmaceutical company is expanding their oncology commercial team and adding a Vice President of Marketing. Now publicly traded with a market cap of 1.5B, their initial launch exceeded analyst forecasts by over 50% and they are preparing to launch their next product in 2021. The pipeline includes two high potential compounds in Phase III and two in Phase II. The VP position is being created to provide fewer direct reports for the Chief Commercial Officer and greater focus on the marketing function. If you’re looking for an opportunity to help build something that will last – to apply your marketing skills to a business model with a huge upside potential – then we would like to hear from you.

The Role:

The VP of Marketing will lead a small team responsible for a broad range of strategic and tactical duties for the US marketing function, including lifecycle management for in-line brands and launch planning and execution for new therapies. Responsibilities include analytics, market segmentation, product positioning, branding, messaging and sales force support. You will also be responsible for advocate development activities with Key Opinion Leaders in the oncology community, including development of non-promotional medical education strategy and building and managing a Speaker’s Bureau. This is a small commercial team with broadly defined job descriptions, so you will "wear many hats” in this assignment.

In addition to planning and executing commercial programs the VP will also hire, train, and develop a growing marketing team, which currently has only two direct reports. You will serve as the commercial lead on cross-functional teams consisting of colleagues from sales, market access, medical affairs, clinical development, and manufacturing. You will also work closely with colleagues in Health Economics and Outcomes Research to develop the value proposition for marketing campaigns in the payer channel. This is the highest profile Business Unit in the organization so expectations are running high; you will present and defend recommendations with Senior Management on a routine basis. In addition to strategic and analytical expertise, excellent interpersonal communication skills are required to influence stakeholders and champion ideas internally.

• 12+ years of marketing experience in the Biotech or Pharmaceutical industry including 6+ years working with oncology therapeutics
• Direct experience working with buy-and-bill products
• Evidence of having led successful product launches in the oncology market
• A strong desire to work in a small, fast-paced work environment without the extended resources and teams associated with large pharma
• Bachelor’s degree or better is required; MBA or equivalent is preferred
The compensation plan includes a highly competitive base salary plus incentive-plan bonus, and an attractive equity stake in the organization.

The position will be based in the San Francisco Bay area; financial assistance for relocation will be provided.

This is an opportunity to leverage your experience and relationships for something more than a simple paycheck.
