Megabrand product with 4.5+M users. First data science strategy role.

A high-growth biotech company has a disruptive product portfolio that has added 4.5 million users the last few years and experienced multiple years of double-digit growth. The wearable digital products provide real time monitoring of a chronic medical condition that affects over 10% of the US population. The market-leading products provide personal, actionable insights, are easy to use and reduce hospitalizations by up to 50%. They are scaling up their global strategic marketing team and adding a newly created position focused on setting data science strategy. This is a high visibility role on a team that’s known for innovative, bold product strategies.

The Opportunity

In this role you will be the first data scientist in the global strategic marketing group, so you will shape the direction and approach to data strategy across this $5B+ business unit. Your data science approach will have a broad focus that will lead to insights and business opportunities. You’ll define and implement a data science roadmap for the entire division as you serve as the in-house data science expert.

This is a broadly defined assignment that will provide insights across the business using structured and unstructured data from the patient app utilization, sales performance and secondary data sources. You’ll develop and test hypotheses across analytics approaches, methodologies and technical approaches. Experience with SQL, R or Python is a must, as well as tools such as PowerBI. You’ll also stay up-to-date on developments in data science, technology and overall business climate that could benefit the product portfolio.

We need an expert who is strong in analytic skills who can also present and defend recommendations with executive level senior management. You will also work closely with cross-functional colleagues from other departments, including marketing, innovation, corporate development and finance.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of analytics in the Med Tech or BioPharma industry, working either for a manufacturer or a consultancy that serves the industry
• Expertise in data analytics (structured and unstructured), predictive modelling and data visualization
• Previous work with SQL/Python/R plus reporting tools such as PowerBI/SAP BI
• Strong cross functional skills
• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics or similar. MS/PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or similar preferred.

A highly competitive base salary is provided, along with a yearly cash bonus, generous 401k match, and a comprehensive benefits package. The base salary is $135,000-$271,000.

The position will ultimately be based in the San Francisco Bay Area working in a hybrid in office/work from home set up.
