MECHANICAL ENGINEER - DESIGN AUTOMATION SOLUTIONS
MECHANICAL / INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER – DESIGN CUSTOM AUTOMATION SOLUTIONS - ULTRASONIC TECHNOLOGIES
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Our Windsor based client seeks to engage a Mechanical or Industrial Engineer with 5 or more years of experience in the design and production of high tech products. Experience in the design of custom automation solutions and with ultrasonic technologies will be an advantage.
LOCATION:
Windsor area. Candidates interested in relocating will need to self fund and execute the move on their own. However, the cost of housing will produce a significant offset relative to other areas, in particular, the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area. Plus, Windsor offers many amenities of a larger city including the benefit of being adjacent to Detroit – one of America’s largest metropolitan areas.
And, winter is relatively short and temperate.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary tasks follow:
Execute projects in accordance with time proposed, specifications, quality and government requirements.
Design using SolidWorks.
Employ mechanical systems to leverage new designs.
Design for manufacturing and serviceability.
Create technical documentation and document all work and projects.
Engage in project reviews comparing completed projects with projections (quotes, specifications and metrics).
Work on multi-disciplinary projects and in conjunction with engineering groups and research scientists in the organization.
Maintain focus on the continuous improvement of the mechanical design division.
Work towards enhanced safety, functionality, and cost reduction.
REQUIREMENTS:
The Mechanical / Industrial Engineer will have:
A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or similar designation.
A minimum of five years of experience or more in mechanical design technology with emphasis on custom automation solutions.
Experience using SolidWorks, Mechanical Layout and Thermodynamics.
Experience with Design Visioning Tools.
Knowledge of safety certifications standards: CSA, ULC, CE, etc.
Knowledge of design and layout of control panels used in an industrial environment.
Mechanical prototyping abilities.
Familiarity with basic machine shop equipment: lathes, mills, welders, etc.
A general mechanical aptitude and ability to use common hand and power tools as required.
Strong analytical skills, be organized, and able to meet strict deadlines.
The ability to work independently.
Comfortable taking full responsibility for projects.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
COMPENSATION:
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
