Our federal government client is seeking a Web Multi-Media Content Consultant to join their team on a contract basis in Ottawa, ON. To be considered for this position, you will need 5+ years of experience in usability testing and web content analysis. Keep on reading to learn more.

About you
To be considered, you will need:

  • 5+ years of experience planning, facilitating, and implementing moderated web usability task testing projects for public-facing websites.

  • 5+ years of experience facilitating moderated web usability task testing projects in both English and French.

  • 3+ years of experience analyzing usability testing results and making recommendations to improve usability on public-facing websites.

  • 3+ years of experience creating reports and presentations that include usability testing results and recommendations.

  • Experience making recommendations to Government of Canada Departments or Agencies on the usability of webpages based on the Canada.ca Design System and the Canada.ca Content Style Guide.

About the role
If hired, you will:

  • Conduct four (4) usability tests per year, spread out as required, with participants from a specific target audience.

  • Attend kick-off meetings with the Web Strategy team and web content owners to confirm testing approach, target audience, task scenarios, and timelines.

  • Develop testing materials, including participant instructions, consent forms, task scenarios, and facilitator guides.

  • Recruit participants for tests, ensuring a mix of a minimum of 12 participants per test, 50% mobile device users, participants from across Canada, and 70% English-speaking and 30% French-speaking participants.

  • Schedule and facilitate remote moderated usability testing sessions.

  • Obtain participant consent to record screens and audio, and upload videos to a location accessible to employees for 12 months.

  • Provide a PowerPoint presentation summarizing task success rates and completion times, separated by device type and language, specific usability or accessibility issues discovered, video clips demonstrating pain points or successes, and expert recommendations to resolve issues, including changes to information architecture, page layouts, navigation, labels, and wording.

  • Present findings and recommendations to the Web Strategy team and content owners at a close-out meeting.
