Job Purpose

The purpose of this job is to work as part of a packaging team that will package and test applications for deployment to Windows 10 workstations in a Federal agency.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The Application Packager will be responsible for packaging COTS and in-house applications using Flexera Software AdminStudio using an established workflow process. Packaging will include creating silent installation packages using the Windows Installer format (MSI), creating Windows Installer transforms (MST), creating scripts and custom actions, testing packages for OS compatibility, testing the basic installation, and updating documentation for packages.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience:

? Technical or Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred

? 2 – 4 years overall IT experience preferred

 

Minimum Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:

? Must understand and have used one of the following: Windows Command Shell Script, VBScript, or PowerShell.

? Must understand the Windows registry, file system, DLLs, and COM registration.

? Prior experience using AdminStudio 2014 or later for packaging is highly desired.

? Prior experience packaging applications for the Windows 10 operating system is desired.

? Experience using Workflow Manager is desired.

? An understanding of a standard packaging process and workflow is desired.

? An understanding of Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) components, features, tables, custom actions, and sequences is highly desired.

? An understanding of Windows Installer best practices is desired.

? Must have a basic understanding of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and how software is deployed with it.

? Must be a US citizen or permanent resident.

? Must be able to work independently and as a team member.

? Must be able to troubleshoot packaging problems.
