Job Description

Our government client is seeking a Computer Application Support Specialist to join their team on an on-site, full-time contract basis. This role requires Secret-level security clearance and involves working with virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), security design assessments, and Microsoft security solutions. About you
To be considered, you will need:
  • 5+ years of experience conducting security design assessments for Azure environments, including threat modeling for secure deployment of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), DevOps governance, PaaS compliance, and Microsoft Intune for endpoint management.
  • 5 of the last ten years configuring Microsoft security solutions for the Department of National Defence (DND), including adherence to security policies on Windows and Linux systems, VMware Virtualization Infrastructure implementation, and security-focused performance analysis.
  • Experience evaluating and designing virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) architecture, ensuring compliance with ITSG-33, NIST800-53, and ISO 27001.
  • Strong knowledge of endpoint security, access management, and network configuration.
  • Ability to assess security requirements, enforce endpoint policies, and align with departmental security controls.
  • Experience conducting performance testing and security audits on virtual desktop solutions.
  • Secret-level security clearance (or eligibility to obtain it).

About the role
If hired, you will:

  • Assess and evaluate the existing virtual desktop infrastructure, identifying security requirements and performance needs.
  • Design VDI architecture, ensuring alignment with Conditional Access Policies and security frameworks.
  • Implement Microsoft security solutions and enforce endpoint policies.
  • Work with teams to configure network components, ensuring compliance with zero-trust network zoning.
  • Conduct pilot testing, performance testing, and security assessments.
  • Provide user training and support phased rollouts to minimize disruption.
  • Monitor virtual desktop performance and security, applying updates and patches as required.
  • Provide technical support to end-users and IT staff.
