Job Description:

  • Participate with plant engineering staff and outside contractors to help design, build, and start up a new plant in Texas.
  • Provides technical support of automation and controls systems for a 24/7 manufacturing operation including hands-on assistance and troubleshooting.
  • Diagnoses electrical wiring, relay logic, control and safety circuits, electronic boards, PLC's, touch screens, displays, contractor's, and motors.
  • Works closely with the Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations personnel to address plant issues and to incorporate new equipment, capabilities and controls into plant operation.
  • Manages/supervises controls technicians.
  • Independently manages automation and control improvement projects.
  • Provides technical guidance and expertise to enhance troubleshooting skills and controls expertise of Maintenance technicians
  • Assures uniformity of component specifications, system design, and documentation.
  • Works across departments to develop a culture of root cause problem identification and solution while encouraging a high level of cross functional communication.
  • Ensures the highest levels of safety, quality, sanitation, and regulatory compliance with NEC and other codes and standards.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience troubleshooting manufacturing controls systems
  • Proficiency with Allen Bradley equipment and systems: (ControlLogix, HMIs, SLC-500 and RS5000 series, Factory Talk SE & ME)
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD – Autodesk software
  • Electrical knowledge (National Electrical Code) and control system design to meet NEC and NFPA requirements.
  • Hands-on experience calibrating/setting up industrial instrumentation, flowmeters, level sensors and others
  • Experience in automated process controls with the use of PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation and sensors, actuated valves, etc.
  • Knowledge in electrical components and systems is a large plus. (MCCs, Substations, MDPs, VFDs, Starters, etc.)
  • Experience with thin client applications a plus
  • Familiarity with MES systems a plus
  • Able to work with a large integrator to give direction, review drawings and designs, and coordinate work between the integrator, internal and external engineers, equipment suppliers, and maintain a schedule are required.
  • Demonstrated level of training and experience comparable to a BS technical degree.
