Senior Underwriter (E&O)

The Details:

They are looking for an experienced Sr. Underwriter to build and lead their E&O coverage product. Successful candidates must be able to produce and manage a profitable book of business through a wholesale only, limited distribution model.

What will you do:

  • Select, price, quote and review new & renewal business in accordance with company underwriting guidelines and experienced, underwriting judgment.
  • Independently work with assigned distribution channels to appropriately select risks, evaluate and recommend program structure, services and pricing to achieve a balanced portfolio and long-term profitability.
  • Maintain strong business relationships to drive consistent opportunities for new business placement, as well as retain existing accounts.
  • Specific experience or fundamental ability to present & defend book dynamics/profile in reinsurance treaty meetings.
  • Be well versed in underwriting Primary Miscellaneous E&O risks, as well as Excess MPL, A&E, LPL, and other exposures within E&O.
  • Evaluate reinsurance requirements and implement appropriate action.
  • Lead the development and coaching of an underwriting team, share industry specific knowledge with underwriters of all levels, and perform as a technical underwriting resource.
  • As a unit leader, set the example of expected performance by producing new business in addition to the required product management duties
  • Actively continue to improve personal knowledge and practices of the insurance industry through work experience, in-house instruction, insurance specific designations (e.g. CPCU), industry courses, home office seminars and workshops, etc.

  • Minimum 7+ years of insurance experience specifically underwriting E&O coverage lines.
  • MUST be entrepreneurial
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Able to quickly establish and build healthy working relationships, exceeds in mentoring relationships
  • Drives for results and takes initiative to help support the team
  • Ability to quickly learn and work in various technical platforms
  • RPLU or professional insurance designation strongly preferred
  • Professional, analytical, and adaptable attitude
  • Ability to organize, self-prioritize, and be a self-starter in a fast-paced environment with demanding internal and external deadlines
