One of the most profitable legal malpractice insurance carriers in the United States has retained The Carlisle Group seeking to hire their next Director of Sales & Marketing. The client, rated A Excellent A.M. Best, is seeking a savvy executive with broad insurance acumen to lead the organization's marketing and sales efforts. This role, reporting to the President & CEO, will own the full marketing & sales function with ample opportunity to influence the direction of the organization.

Position Summary:

Responsible for managing and driving premium growth, profitability, retention, and ensuring clear communication with new, and existing, policyholders. Manage the sales staff in driving the execution of tactical and operational plans to meet the organization’s business objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  • Manage the Company’s strategic marketing and advertising plans and build relationships with key associations in order to ensure the Company is known as the premier provider of legal malpractice insurance in the state.
  • Create a dynamic, energetic, and achievement-oriented culture within the marketing & sales department.
  • Diligently train and mentor internal sales staff ensuring a new business production culture is paramount.
  • Promote effective cross-functional teamwork with marketing, underwriting, claims, finance, and IT operations.
  • Work with Underwriting to ensure the Company is creating a solution tailored to prospective policyholders’ needs.
  • Monitor marketplace (competitors) activity and report on relevant
  • Development and analysis of metrics related to outbound sales activity in an effort to ensure company resources used are driving tangible results.
  • Deliver profitable growth to the
  • Ability to travel extensively to conferences, industry events, and client & prospect locations as needed.
  • Maintain memberships in state associations and relevant trade associations.
  • Drive new, and fresh perspectives on how the Company should spend marketing dollars to achieve optimal return on investment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises two employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education:
4-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience or advanced degree. CPCU or other insurance related coursework preferred.

Active Texas P&C insurance agent license

Experience:
5+ year’s insurance sales experience selling B to B (business to business).

Knowledge/Skills:
Prior experience/knowledge in professional lines desired.

High level of insurance technical knowledge, excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills. Strong communication and organizational skills are required. Computer literate. Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to meet with prospects, trade groups, attend industry conferences, or attend meetings at home office.
