Professional Liability Underwriter/Broker:

Our client with almost 30 years of experience, a national footprint, many markets to place business, including specialty and hard-to-place risks, is looking for a talented Professional Liability Underwriter/Broker.

JOB DESCRIPTI0N:

  1. To develop the business of an assigned group of retail agents:
    • who have a certain loyalty to Our client;
    • who follow the philosophy of Our client regarding submitting applications, binding risks, and paying in a timely manner;
    • who regularly produce a good flow of submissions to Our client;
    • who have an average “hit ratio” of 33%.
  2. To follow organization and department procedures and to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  3. To have a good attendance record.
  4. To produce a book of business equal to at least $300,000 in revenues to Our client after a maximum of three years at Our client.
  5. To represent Our client well in every instance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Excellent computer, typing, word processing and speaking skills.
  2. Proficiency in the use of ImageRight and OMNI Plus.
  3. Ease with numbers, negotiation of premiums, details.
  4. Minimum of 5 years experience as a Professional Underwriter/Broker at an MGA or insurance company.
  5. Completion of classes and testing required for a General Lines License by the end of six months at Our client; regular completion of required Continuing Education classes. CE classes will be reimbursed by Our client.
  6. Excellent knowledge of rating, coverages, and underwriting guidelines for Our client’s specific insurance markets.
  7. Ability to work with limited supervision.
  8. Ability to bring at hiring, or to develop within a reasonable time, enough retail agents to produce a minimum of $300,000 in revenues per year (within three years). Interest in becoming an “entrepreneur” regarding production, marketing and bonuses.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Remain up-to-date on all guidelines and forms of Our client’s markets.
  2. Visit all assigned agents at least once a year, documenting the visits in OMNI.
  3. Request of the agents any information required prior to issuing a proper quote.
  4. Whenever possible, respond to all agent requests the same day that the request was made.
  5. Follow up with risks submitted to the various markets, and keep the agents informed of the status of their submissions.
  6. Issue quotes to the agents in a timely and professional manner.
  7. Document all transactions and correspondence in accordance with Our client procedures.
  8. Upon receiving binder requests, follow all Our client procedures necessary to produce policies in a timely manner.
  9. As much as is possible, protect Our client and its markets from adverse risks and questionable underwriting information provided by agents.
  10. Develop good relationships with all market representatives.
  11. Work as a good team member with all Our client employees.

OBJECTIVES:

  1. To produce a profitable book of business from each of the agents assigned to you.
  2. To achieve the yearly individual production objectives set by management.
