Position: A&P Mechanic - Chicago, IL

Only qualified candidates with the below experience will be considered for this position.

Position Summary:

  • Performing general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems.
  • Removal and installation of panels and components,
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving aircraft system/component issues
  • De-fueling aircraft,
  • Engine removal/installations,
  • Operating ground support equipment,
  • Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components
  • Aircraft movement and assistance in performance runs/ taxiing
  • Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling
  • Immediately notify the Lead Mechanic of any problem areas such as parts, materials, workmanship, or airworthiness issues.

  • Provides the Lead Mechanic with a detailed report of work progression and open items to be included in the shift turnover log
  • Proper tagging of Aircraft components, parts, and panels appropriately stored including racks by aircraft.
  • Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance data bases
  • Willing and able to work rotating shifts including, nights, holidays, weekends and days off.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Your Education:

  • A High school diploma or equivalent, and Airframe and Powerplant License are required. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal

Your Sense of Responsibility:

  • Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.
  • Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
  • Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
  • Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
  • Maintain customer oriented work habits.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifts 70 lbs.
  • Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.
  • Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
  • Work on elevated platforms (up to 40 ft. in the air) using fall protection safety gear
  • Work in small restricted areas
  • Standing for long periods of time.

Mental Requirements

  • Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.
  • Work with others in a professional manner.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.
  • Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.
  • Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

  • Personal hand tools
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.
  • Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.
  • Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.
