Position: A&P Mechanic - Chicago, IL
Only qualified candidates with the below experience will be considered for this position.
Position Summary:
- Performing general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems.
- Removal and installation of panels and components,
- Troubleshooting and problem solving aircraft system/component issues
- De-fueling aircraft,
- Engine removal/installations,
- Operating ground support equipment,
- Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components
- Aircraft movement and assistance in performance runs/ taxiing
- Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling
- Immediately notify the Lead Mechanic of any problem areas such as parts, materials, workmanship, or airworthiness issues.
- Provides the Lead Mechanic with a detailed report of work progression and open items to be included in the shift turnover log
- Proper tagging of Aircraft components, parts, and panels appropriately stored including racks by aircraft.
- Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance data bases
- Willing and able to work rotating shifts including, nights, holidays, weekends and days off.
- Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
- Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
Your Education:
- A High school diploma or equivalent, and Airframe and Powerplant License are required. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal
Your Sense of Responsibility:
- Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.
- Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
- Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
- Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
- Maintain customer oriented work habits.
Physical Requirements:
- Lifts 70 lbs.
- Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.
- Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
- Work on elevated platforms (up to 40 ft. in the air) using fall protection safety gear
- Work in small restricted areas
- Standing for long periods of time.
Mental Requirements
- Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
- Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.
- Work with others in a professional manner.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.
- Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.
- Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

- Personal hand tools
- Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.
- Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.
- Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.
